Backstory

I began attending Hogwarts as a first year in 1972. I remember it was a bit difficult fitting in because I was a transfer student. My family had decided to move from America to the UK so that I could attend Hogwarts. I remember my mother expounding on the merits of the school and saying that I should have only the best training in magical arts. She refused to let me attend any other school and so my father scrounged up what money he could and we moved to a very cramped little house in London. I did not like the new arrangements- there were leaks here and there and the walls never seemed to do their duty of maintaining indoor temperatures. Not to mention the fact that I had had to sacrifice my beloved Hodag, Morpheus because there was nowhere to keep him in the new home and as such, he had to be sold along with many other things. I still remember when its horns were starting to grow too unruly, I would sand them down and use the powder leftover so that I could read continuously for several days at a time. During those times, he always used to stay by my side and keep a vigilant, protective watch over me and sometimes allow me to scratch his head. However, although I would always miss him, the day my Hogwarts acceptance letter arrived was a proud and exciting time for all of us. My favorite subject has always been magical creatures and that was where I excelled in classes- in topics relating to our wonderful animal friends.
