Backstory

I don't think I would say I was a hatstall, but my sorting definitely wasn't quick: the hat couldn't choose between my defining characteristics! It kept repeating: ambition.... loyalty... daring.... curiosity... I couldn't even make a choice myself so as to help the hat! In the end, I was sorted into Gryffindor, and I must say I am satisfied: daring and chivalry along with loyalty to my friends are the things I value the most. The people who know me well were not surprised, but everyone else thought I would be going to Ravenclaw! I was always top of my class in the Muggle world ... (Oh yeah, I'm half-blood but I grew up with muggles: my Dad is a wizard but he never really fit in with the Ministry, and he preferred to retire to the Muggle world rather than participating in a revolt that would (according to him) lead nowhere). I'm still a student, yes, I'm in my seventh year (NEWTs await me... yay) and I'm taking Arithmancy (I used to hate it, but it's now my favorite subject), Charms, Potions, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. But I'm already thinking about the future: I'm done with school, and I don't know why they never let me skip grades because I'm more advanced than most people, if not everyone in my year. I want to make a real change in the Wizarding World. I'm sick of the division between half-bloods, pure-bloods, muggle-borns and squibs: there is no reason why some should be favored over others, as they are even inside the Ministry. And International Magical cooperation is not nearly as great as it could be: we have so much to learn from all the other wizarding cultures! I'm not sure yet whether I want to join the Ministry, and try to change it from within, or start a revolution (I, unlike my dad, think we actually can change something), or pursue my lifelong passion in Dramatic Art, which I discovered in the Muggle world and I think the Wizarding world could greatly profit from! The biggest advantage Muggles have over wizards, in my opinion, is that they value Art a lot more...
I was born a couple of years after Voldemort's defeat, so I don't really know what it's like to live in fear. Nobody in my family died for the cause either, which I am grateful for. I know I've been extremely lucky in my childhood, which is why I'm also considering taking a gap year and visiting places where "evil" hasn't been defeated yet (nobody talks about the growing unrest in Turkmenistan!)
