Lizzie Scamander was born as the youngest and only female child of Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander, both pureblood wizards. At the time of her birth, her older brothers--Lorcan and Lysander--were 3 years old. Lizzie certainly inherited her mother's curiosity, as when she was only 9 years old, she figured out how to dye her hair a shade of purple, much to the dismay of her father.

Lizzie grew up with her parents and her two older brothers in a wizarding neighborhood, living right next to Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Because of this and the closeness of their parents' relationship, Lizzie and her brothers became good friends with Rose and Hugo Granger-Weasley, as well as James, Albus, and Lily Potter, who lived right across the street.

At around the same time as her childhood friend, Albus, Lizzie began attending the same magic school as her mother and brothers: Hogwarts. While her mother and one of her brothers were sorted into Ravenclaw, Lizzie was sorted into Hufflepuff along with her other brother, Lysander.

Lizzie has also been diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome, making it a bit difficult for her to concentrate in school.
