Backstory

Being the son of a muggle-born refugee from the second rise of You-Know-Who who fled to the United States, I always wondered whether I would get an acceptance letter from Ivermory or Hogwarts. My father (an alchemist who dream is to still create an alloy to be used in the fastest racing brooms) was an muggle-born which attended Hogwarts as an Gryffindor during the first rise of Voldemort and fled to the United States of America at the first whiff of his comeback. There he met my mother a half-blood who came from a long line of healers. Instead of attending traditional wizarding schools, my mother’s family chose to homeschool the magic part of her education. This allowed my mother’s side to teach both the European and Native American magic that has been the quarter stone of the 150 year old family healing practice. When I received an acceptance letter to both schools, my parents were equally proud, but had decided I would be homeschooled like my mother so I could “easily incorporate myself into the muggle world as an adult.” After hearing my father’s stories of Hogwarts, I asked if I could take my O.W.Ls and study abroad for my N.E.W.Ts. He relented after I scored nothing below an E in all my courses. Having sent on owl to Hogwarts and arranged a visit at that years end-of- year feast, the Headmaster invited me to be his office to be sorted. When the Sorting Hat touched my head it woke up and grumbled “Of course Ravenclaw.” and went back to sleep. I was then introduced to the head of Ravenclaw house and we had an interesting conversation about my future career. I have always been interested in charm creation and the use of wandless magic in non ethno-european magic. He delightfully suggested I try for a career that utilizes ethnomagicology and a charms creation license which would provide me with career options ranging from research positions to Ministry positions. He suggested the Department of Mysteries as an internship after my N.E.W.T Level, although he never really gave a reason why. Professor Flitwick was very helpful in addressing my concerns about some gaps I might encounter in my magical education. He suggested if I was truly worried I could enroll on the newly launched website that would let me take courses during the summer to let me refresh and fill the gaps.

At home I have to work regular hours in my mother’s families clinic. In the clinic I mostly clean or work the reception desk, but because of the lack a a trace detection in the hospital I have started assisting my grandmother in the more traditional healing practice such as potion making and assisting the occasional mother who is scared to repair their child’s broken nose. Outside of clinic time I enjoy reading my father’s extensive library and playing guitar in my muggle friends garage band “The Rebellious Elves”. I occasionally join my brothers and father in Quidditch matches as keeper, but honestly I like to keep my feet on the ground. I was given two pets to take to Hogwarts, which I thought was not be allowed, but my father assured me that the pet rule is often bent. My mother demands I take the family cat Norma which is motley tabby cat. And my father bought me an Barn Owl I named “Hermes” as I way to communicate during my time. I can’t wait to attend Hogwarts for my 6th and 7th year. Especially for the practical classes ( I love books, but their only so much one can learn). I may miss my muggle school mates and some of the classes (especially chemistry, which dramatically helped me with Transfigurations) but I can always come back and study for Muggle college later if I choose.
