Backstory
My mother always told me horror stories about Slytherin house. That they were evil, distrustworthy, selfish, etc. As a proud Ravenclaw, she hadn't quite the same rivalry of a Griffindor, but she had some.. intellectual disagreements with Slytherin house. My father, a Muggle, had no real means of countering her. He supported Hufflepuff, but had no strong feelings about the houses, and even he joked and believed Slytherins to be less than trustworthy.Suffice to say, I was devastated when I was sorted into the Slytherin house. I was afraid of what I'd be when the hat saw that in me. I was a creature of love; part of me thought I'd be in Ravenclaw before I started, and as I learned more about the houses I'd thought I'd be in Hufflepuff. Yet.. it only took the first night of the Slytherin orientation in order to comfort my worries.
It also helped a great deal to know my best friend, Alex Anderson, had been sorted into Slytherin too! We had met a long time ago at a video game event in London. He had got so mad at his game he destroyed it with his magic! Between seeing him upset, and worrying about the Aurors finding him for using his magic (having forgotten that they wouldn't care bc it was an accident), I quickly latched on to him as a friend! I got him a new console and introduced him gradually to the world of magic. From then on, we've been best friends, and he's gradually helped me fit into Slytherin house.
My mom and dad still think I'm not entirely trustworthy because I was sorted into Slytherin, but having seen our common room, the light dancing under the waves, and the knowledge that it was my ambition that got me sorted here, I am proud to be a Slytherin. Because my ambitions are to prove my love for my friends (and to maybe win the house cups a few years in a row).
For my first year, I want to focus mostly on Charms and Transfiguration, because those both interest me the most!
I hope to make friends with as many people from as many houses as I can! And thankfully, I already have my first friend in Ravenclaw. I'm looking forward to my life at Hogwarts!!
