Backstory

Given the chance, Galya would gladly murder anyone who got too close to her- physically or emotionally.
Her mother left just after she was born, and her father died when Galya was four. Her mother had been a witch, but her father was a normal Muggle. She showed her first sign of magic a few days before her father died, so she blamed herself for years following the experience. After a few years bouncing around in foster systems and orphanages, Galya ran away one night when she was nine. Over the years she had built up a wall, not letting any emotions slip through. She was guarded, but she met a little girl when she ran away. The girl's name was Elyza.
Elyza taught Galya to be compassionate, to have a soul someone would want to meet, but Elyza was killed exactly a year after the girls met, on Galya's tenth birthday. A gang of teenagers had cornered the two helpless girls, knocking Galya to the side and trying to take everything they had. Elyza had put up a good fight, but after years on the streets, the ten-year-old couldn't really do much.
The police had come, locking away the four guys and sending Galya back to her old orphanage in Hillingdon.
The next day, she saw the story of her best friend's death in the newspaper, just floating around for anyone to see.
To this day, Galya blames herself for the loss. She rarely speaks, and when she does it's in short, clipped sentences. She hasn't felt- or been- complete since that night, and she doesn't let her emotions show. She has always been brilliant, but she has too much pain and darkness in her soul to truly realize her own potential.
Galya Saera is an extraordinary witch, with pain and shadows in her past, present, and future.
