Backstory
My mother is from an old pureblood family, historically dark but since the Lordship passed to my great uncle, it changed to neutral. The current Head of my family is my aunt, my mother's cousin, but she never married and never had children and has no siblings, and since my grandfather passed a year ago, the Lordship is set to pass to my mother, as the oldest daughter... except she doesn't want to be Head of the family, since it would interfere with her travels (she likes to learn new languages. She speaks like 7. She's such a Ravenclaw). So, historically it would go to my little brother, but a) he's underage by both wizarding and muggle standards, and b) my family never held much with sexism anyway... the point is, I'm the heir to a large pureblood family. And even though I'm not set to inherit any time soon (my aunt is in excellent health) I still feel it is my responsibility to learn as much as I can about leading an Olde House. And if that means learning more about arithmancy... well, I always did like math.My father is also a pureblood, but from a minor family in Ireland, and he has an older brother with a son set to inherit. His sister, my aunt, is, unfortunately, a squib, and despite being welcomed by her family as best as they were able, she left the wizarding world some time ago and married a Muggle man, having three completely muggle children. My parents avoided having me and my brother visit them often when we were younger, lest we accidentally say something about magic. In addition, my aunt resents my father and the rest of us for having magic, and was quite mean to me the few times we did visit - she reminds me quite a bit of Petunia Evans, in that she decided that magic is abnormal and she wants nothing to do with it. Plus, she's Catholic and has decided to embrace some of their more... conservative views on witchcraft. Needless to say, we don't talk much.
I'm mostly just excited to get my magical schooling.
