Backstory
The sorting hat ceremony had been something that I anticipated with an assortment of anxieties. I had been familiar with the house stereotypes, and at that point, did not know better than to believe in that silly stuff. When I was sorted into Gryffindor, it immediately felt right. I walked down to the Gryffindor table, shooting a nervous smile at my older brother where he was comfortably sat with his Ravenclaw friends that he had made over the two years he had attended. My mother was happy to have another Gryffimdor in the family, sending over her’s and my father’s congratulations with an owl. Over the years, I would probably say that my favourite classes have been Care For Magical Creatures and Divination. As for my other classes, I’ve always had troubles with deadlines, but my efforts don’t go unnoticed. As far as social goings I’ve made a pretty tight knit group within the last year that have made my days worth it and though I have lost friendships and spent a lot of time being alone, I am glad that I got through that to now feel like I’m with the people I need in my life. Being from a pure blood family has come with privilege that I recognize and want to use my position to spread awareness of the inequalities that muggle-born and half-blood sorcerers face and the prejudices they endure. Attending Hogwarts following the defeat of the Dark Lord did not effect me immediately, but growing up hearing stories about the brave people who fought and gave their lives in that war gave me perspective and thankfulness for the fact that I could be at Hogwarts when I was. As I am getting into my last years at Hogwarts, I find myself being unsure as to what I would like to do in the future, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
