Colin is surely a Slytherin, but not a typical one. His ambitions and goals are high as he wants to become the minister of magic. He strongly desires to be famous and powerful, but on the other hand, unlike a Slytherin, he is very fond of his friends and cares for them. However, Colin chooses his friends carefully, and there is a clear line between who he thinks they are his friends and who aren't. He tends to ignore everything except the things he is related to, and so people around him may think that he is an ass because of this.
