Backstory
Born at the dawn of a new millennium, Thea Green grew up aware of her powers, but not the wizarding world. Her mother Lydia had a one-night stand with an unknown wizard and when her newborn showed the ability to do fantastical things, she moved them both to a remote in Northern Massachusetts cabin where Lydia worked as a forrester, and Thea and her elder brothers were homeschooled. With only a few yearly trips back to their original home in Boston.
Patrick and Cormac were also both born out of wedlock, Lydia being a feminist essayist had never saw the point in getting married and moved to much to maintain a relationship.
Cormac, the eldest, is the only one to know who his father is and he and Lydia are still friends in the writing community. Half-African and maintaining none of his parents scholarly traits but all of their intelligence, Cormac from a very young age delighted in no longer having to go to school but rather ran the household from the age of 5.
Patrick, 3 at the age of their departure from civilization, learned quickly that books were better than people and that being the gay bastard son of a hardcore feminist wasn't going to win him any favor amongst the populous. All that being said he had no drive for anything except debating the classics. He wanted to revitalize the Cult of Dionysus at age 11, at 13 Cormac caught him sneaking his mother's brandy, and by 17 he was knowledgeable about Tarot, astronomy, philosophy, and absolutely nothing useful.
Thea was always a precocious and rebellious child, and her youthful realization of how she could trick her brothers with her powers did nothing to ease her mother's worries. Having no knowledge of what she was, and her mother being worried for her future but tolerant of her present, she learned her abilities through trial and error and more than a few dangerous escapades, least of which involved getting rabbits's to spell out happy birthday for Patrick (Patty, as she calls him).
When on a warm day in June her letter arrived, her mother at last found relief, Cormac made pies and cried with excitement, and Patty at last was motivated enough to go to London with her to get everything
