Jamie Pembroke

Backstory

My name is James, but most of my friends just call me Jamie. I am from America and I've only just recently moved to the UK. I attended Ilvermorne for 4 years and was sorted into Pukwudgie. Now though I suppose I belong to Ravenclaw house, though the hat did take some time picking between that and Hufflepuff. I expect if I were sorted younger it may have instead had a hard time not picking Slytherin, but I think for myself as I am now Ravenclaw suits me quite nicely. 

I've brought my crow Stolas with me to school, though I feel a bit out of place with him seeing as almost everyone else has brought an owl. I hope he doesn't get picked on in the owlry. To tell you the truth I've considered keeping him with me in my dorm since I'm worried about him getting pecked on. I'd feel bad if he got bullied by the other birds here. At least I know he can outfly them if need be, owls are such slow birds it's a wonder any of you receive mail on time at all.

I'm a bit nervous for classes here, I expect I had a bit different of a curriculum at my old school so I hope the transition isn't too jarring. I have always been quite fond of astronomy, I liked Muggle astronomy before I even found out I was a witch. I've also always taken easily to charms, which I suppose is quite lucky for me as they're quite useful. I do quite well in transfiguration as well but is don't think it's quite as fun as charms. Potions is my worst subject by far, I'm far too used to the logic of Muggle baking to find most things in potions intuitive at all. 

Having more recently entered into the British wizarding community I've been quite surprised by just the amount of prejudice towards muggleborns. I'm used to a certain amount of distain for no-maj's but it's truly unbelievable here. It's no wonder you know who rose to power so easily, I'm just glad I wasn't here to see it. Hopefully now that you know who has been defeated the animosity will die down and I won't have to worry too much about blood status. Especially with school, I'm sure nobody will care about blood status when there's house rivalries to focus on!
