Backstory

To be truthful, the letterless day after my eleventh birthday I was completely resigned to the fact that I simply did not have the magical capacity (like my brilliant Healer elder brother and our talented Potions Master eldest) to be accepted into the renowned wizarding school of Hogwarts. With the frankly disappointing amount of magical mishaps even in my earliest youth, it didn't really come as much of a surprise.

But then. . .

Three years later on my fourteenth birthday, my mother calls out to me from downstairs. "A letter has arrived for you!" She exclaims, excited, but trying to keep it a secret from me. As if the letter was a spectacular surprise.

"Ms J. E. Barsumo. . ."

And it was.
