Backstory
Sometimes, your destiny reveals itself to you in ways you could never imagine. A royal army could come and declare you a prince, destined to lead them into battle, or you could find an ancient heirloom, revealing your long-lost family riches you must reclaim, or, or an evil sorceress could come, bewitching your friends, destining you to find your inner powers and defeat her...- Or an owl could come, in broad daylight, knocking you off your bike in front of your friends, just to deliver a letter.
However, when your destiny does come (regardless of the method), you're going to feel pretty compelled to take it, even if it means leaving your muggle family and friends behind.
Not that he didn't have second, third, and fourth regrets about - that was, before he actually got there. While his mind was left to stew on the train ride there about what he would encounter, what he actually did encounter blew him away. Even food, which he probably like the least, was some of the best he had ever had. Everything he saw had a question - and an answer- behind it, the castle was so huge, he was discovering secret rooms all the time (Even when he probably wasn't supposed to be!).
The classes were another thing in-and-of themselves. He thoroughly enjoyed every single class, even -well, more like especially -History of Magic. Granted, not that he was very good at any of them, because who cares how much you enjoy something if you aren't very good at it?
Or... Or is it the other way around?
