Backstory

Serena Balthazar is the best friend to the beloved Poppy Cherhill who grew up rich. Poppy's her father is head of a world renown bank. Her father is a wizard but Poppy is oblivious, thinking she was a muggleborn wizard, like some of her classmates. But her father is actually a very talented wizard, only he couldn't reveal it to the world because all of his money is, well, magic, created artificially. All of the men in her family have been wizards so far, it has been a family secret all these years for fear of unbalancing the wealth that they have encountered. Every Cherhill man has graduated from Hogwarts with mediocre grades and were all quite popular Slytherins. Poppy is the first female to have inherited the wizarding gene. Even as a child her father disregarded her magic but at the age of 5 she suddenly touched Mr. Cherhill's wand, it was an accident of course but it sparked. It was then he knew he must send her to Hogwarts to fulfill the Cherhill family name. The only problem is... the Cherhills have been banned from Hogwarts after a jealous ministry man, Gregory Fetaworks, investigated him, and found that all of his money was not earned. He told Dumbledore who was furious and took away Cherhill’s powers. This wasn't terrible though, Cherhill still had all of the savings from his ancestors. The problem is, his strong suit was never business and due to his secret he can not tell anyone why they are going bankrupt and hopes that Poppy will save the family with her magical abilities. Poppy is oblivious to this but it seems everyone at Hogwarts isn't. The truth is, Poppy's Student name is Poppy Koleworks and thinks it is just a right of passage for wizards, changing their names. What does Serena have to do with this? Well, she knows everything as must protect her best friend at all costs. When Poppy arrived at the school the sorting hat immediately recognized her as a Cherhill, she had their green eyes and golden locks, she had the almond shaped eyes and mischievous look. "A Cherhill," he had said "I haven't seen one of you in a while". "What do you mean?" exclaimed Poppy. Right as soon as the Hat was about to respond Serena, who, herself was an excelling wizard shut the hat up.she waved her fingers and suddenly he was silenced. She knew that if Poppy was placed in Slytherin like all of her relatives she would be corrupted and would find out of her ancestors who were Slytherin royalty. She also knew that she would be placed in ravenclaw like all of her family. Her family were all very successful ravenclaws. They believed in doing the best and only the best and any grade lower than a 97 was a disgrace. She immediately compelled the hat to release a small squawk. "Ravenclaw!" . She had to keep an eye on Poppy somehow. After that Poppy has always wanted to sneak into the headmaster's office and talk to the sorting hat. Serena must protect her but also her grades and her family’s legacy.
