Persephone

Student

I'm Persephone. I'm a pure blood Slytherin, and I happen to like food quite a bit. Need I say more?

Backstory

I'm Persephone, and I grew up in Canada with both my magical parents, and my older Gryffindor brother. I first started showing signs of magic at the age of 2. I had lit the living room curtains on fire. Sounds like me. While I was still to young for schooling, I had caused countless problems for my parents mostly by accidentally (sometimes purposely) wrecking things and scaring away people I didn't like. Let's just say I knew what I wanted and would do what I could to get it.

I was a pretty clever kid. I remember, along with my ambitious schemes, I used to play games like chess (wizard's chess of course) and solve puzzles. Because of this I always thought it was suitable that I be sorted into Ravenclaw one day, assuming my family would be able to travel to England to attend Hogwarts. I didn't think I fit into any other house. I sure wasn't the bravest, so Gryffindor wasn't for me. I didn't get very attached or loyal to people, so no to Hufflepuffs. And Slytherin just always seemed to have a bad rep, so I always thought I'd be viewed poorly as a Slytherin.

My parents had first learned of Hogwarts when we were only little, and since then, they had thought it was the right school for us, but it was in England. As my older brother reached schooling age, however, we ended up moving to England for him to enroll in Hogwarts. Sure enough, he was sorted into Gryffindor, following my mother's footsteps. She was so proud. I remember him telling me made up stories of what happens at Hogwarts and trying to scare the ghost out of me. It worked sometimes too. But finally I too reached school age and would be able to find out for myself how much of a liar my older brother was.

Obviously, when you first go to Hogwarts, the first thing you do, is get sorted. Everybody is nervous for their sorting, it's a fact of nature, but for some reason, I felt like I was more nervous than most people. Finally, when my name was called, and I stepped up to the Sorting Hat, I looked out at the different houses sitting at their tables. 'Ravenclaw,' I thought. 'I'll be Ravenclaw for sure.' But as I looked at the Ravenclaws, they appeared intimidating, too smart. And I knew that moment that I wouldn't fit in at the only house I thought was right for me. I looked at the other houses. The Gryffindors; my brother was sitting there, but everybody else looked to proud, too strong, too... unwelcoming to a wimpy 11 year old girl. The Hufflepuffs; they all looked nice of course. Hufflepuffs are nice, that's who they are, but, would I match up to them? No. I knew I was sarcastic and didn't take things seriously half the time. Finally, the Slytherins; ambitious, cunning, devious, and knew how to get their way. That sounded like me sure, but I didn't want to get involved in the bad reputation. I didn't want to be Slytherin. But would I fit in with anyone else? As I had been in mid thought about where in the world I could possibly fit in, I was interrupted by the Sorting Hat. I realized that the hat had been listening in on all my thoughts. That's what my brother had told me happens. After a long time of sitting there, the Sorting Hat seemed to have made its mind and sorted me into Slytherin. And so my school story begins.
