Backstory

I was sorted into Gryffindor, which surprised me as I've never been particularly brave. I, however, soon began to realise that the choice was probably based on my impulsiveness. I was told that the Sorting Hat took ages to sort me; it was caught between my thirst for knowledge that pointed towards Ravenclaw, or my strong belief in social justice that pertained to Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. My favourite classes are Defense Against the Dark Arts, which included learning about fascinating things and how to defend yourself when faced with them. I also enjoy potions very much. I, however, despise Care of Magical Creatures as I was never able to fully connect and care for the creatures in class. I am fantastic at Muggle Studies, but my muggle-born status makes it quite boring. My blood status was a hindrance in some cases, but helped me connect with all those less respected than I did. However, times are changing and the only magical society I have known has been respectful towards Muggle-borns, I couldn't imagine living in Wizarding Britain during the Wizarding Wars. My greatest strength, I believe, is my belief in acceptance and equality to all. My weakness lies in my impulsiveness, and the lengths I'm willing to go to get my point across. After I graduate, I am looking to become a journalist; one who writes the truth and amplifies the voices that other people refuse to hear. The most fascinating thing about magic is how it does not solve all problems, it is simply a tool for wizards to wield, not necessary but extremely helpful. As a muggle-born, the discovery of my magical powers has felt like a blessing; a gift that I must wield to aid others. Using it for anything else seems wrong with my upbringing. I don't have any pets, as I am currently content with using the school owls to communicate with my family. However, I suspect that my parents will know enough about the wizarding world to buy me an owl as a graduation gift, when I will no longer have access to the school or family owls. My sister will probably be able to inform my parents of that necessity, as I have told her a lot of things about our world; my parents, bless them, have never been able to grasp the concepts, no matter how many times they ask me to explain them.
