Alaya Abernathy

Backstory

After going through a tough depression, Alaya's dream of becoming a veterinarian was one of the things keeping her going. She felt as if those dreams were destroyed after getting the letter. She was so angry at everyone and didn't want anything to do with magic or wizards. After many attempts to destroy and/or hide the letters from her Muggle parents, someone finally came to see if she was attending, and to help her buy school supplies. Alaya groped the whole time, not wanting anything to do with the magic people around her. It wasn't until the recruiter offhandedly mentioned the Care of Magical Creatures class that she became interested. She bombarded him with questions, about wizard history and school and culture, until he finally helped her purchase an owl of her own, a Barn owl she named Rocky. After finding out that they didn't use Muggle money, Alaya spent the next month crafting cat and owl toys, as well as care items for cats, owls, and toads, to sell once she got to Hogwarts. Now her dream is to become a magizoologist, like the legendary Newt Scamander, or some sort of magical animal caretaker.
Some of her hobbies are reading, writing, and sneaking down to the kitchens with some Hufflepuffs to bake.
