Backstory

When Jack Lumpignon married his wife, Phoebe, in 2012, their home became an amalgamation of their two worlds. Jack, whose motehr was the sister of Xenophilius Lovegood and whose father was a BeauxBatons alumni, had grown up immersed in the wizarding world. His Hogwarts years, which took place after the Battle of Hogwarts, had served him well. A hard-working Ravenclaw, he had graduated with straight E's on his N.E.W.T.'s and immediately deployed into the reformed Ministry of Magic's Department of International Communications and Coooperations. Whilst on a trip to meet with the Americain Magical Governance, he met a muggle woman like no other. Phoebe was wild, with long black curls, a heart-shaped face, and green eyes-- a complete contrast to Jack's appearance! Jack, had inhereted the Lovegood, dirty-blond curls, had also taken on his father's dark eyes and the mild olive undertones in his skintone had only been enhanced by his summers in France over all those years.

Jack and Phoebe, present-day

Though their appearances contrasted, their personalities and values were oh-so-similar. Phoebe, though a muggle, had grown up enchanted by another kind of magic-- Music! Much to her dismay, she had been too young to follow around the Grateful Dead, but that hadn't stopped her from listening almost exclusively to their music throughout her highschool years. Towards her senior year, she had become hooked on the then-disbanded group, Phish. But her luck turned round during her Sophomore year in college when Phish got back together. Since her classes weren't really suited to her needs in any case, she dropped out to follow along with their tour, and it was during this time that she met Jack.

After their marriage, their home in the South of England was soon the perfect example of a muggle-magic-marriage. Incense smoke mingled with potion vapor, music played on a vintage recored-player restored entirely by Jack's charm-work, and the walls were decorated with hangings that depicted magical plants and creatures as well as tapestries with paisley-style iconogography of Phoebe's favorite bands and her art inspired by her Earth-Centric spirituality. It was an environment built from mutual passions, a shared love for individuality and the arts, and a place where authenticity seemed to mingle in the air with tingles of magic. By the time they brought home their first and only child in July of 2012, they couldn't have been happier with the home they had made her.

.----- .

Sunshine Ruth Lumpignon, who mostly goes by Sunny, is most certainly a product of her environment. She loves music, the arts, the outdoors, reading, home-cooked meals from their garden, and simply cannot stop herself from being an authentic individual even when it ostracizes her. This was the case, of course, when she went to her muggle, public primary school. It was here where she discovered that not everyone wanted to celebrate her curiosities and quirks as her parents do. Quite to the contrary, she was often teased or left out for the things that were so respected at home. Her year three teacher proposed that she see a psychiatrist, that perhaps Sunny was on the Autism spectrum. Naturally this caused some debate at home as to how this should be handled, but in the end Jack and Phoebe decided to bring Sunny to a muggle psychiatrist concluded that Sunny is in fact on the spectrum. Though she was supported enough at home that this made no difference within the family, it improved her time at school only marginally. In the end, it was decided that Phoebe would take her home and do her schooling there. It was a wonderful decision for the family, and Jack especially loved that this meant he could start sharing some of his own magical learnings with his daughter.

Supported though she is at home, Sunny had been anxious all spring and into the beginning of summer-- she's been showing signs of magical powers for years, but would she be just outside of the norm in the magical world as she had been in the muggle world? Would she even receive a Hogwarts letter? July seemed to creep in extra slowly this year, but as the beginning days of the month snailed along, Sunny's birthday finally arrived, along with her Hogwarts letter!

Racoon (Top) and Niffler (Bottom)

With a weight off her small shoulders, Sunny has spent the remainder of the summer preparing for her first year at Hogwarts. Her pet rabbit from a muggle farm nearby, whom she had named Raccoon, is too nervous of an animal to accompany her on such a long journey. After much reassurance from Phoebe that he would be well-cared for, Sunny agreed to leave him behind. And much to her delight, she found a delightful young bunny in a pet shop in Diagon Alley, whom she named Niffler after an animal she'd seen in one of her school books. Niffler will be accompanying her to school this year, along with her stack of books, her dad's old cauldron, her new set of robes, and her wand (10.5 inches, vine wood, unicorn hair core, pleasantly springy)
