Backstory
Right, well, if you must know, my name's Polaris Grey. Slytherin, obviously. You wouldn't find me anywhere else, I suppose. Growing up, it was expected; the Greys have always been Slytherins. I don't exactly embrace the whole ambitious-cutthroat stereotype though. I prefer the company of books to people, generally. They're far less prone to pointless chatter and hold far more interesting secrets. I spend most of my time in the library.
My family… they're traditional. Very traditional. Pureblood through and through, with all the opinions and expectations that come with it. It wasn’t always easy. A lot of pressure was put on me to continue the family legacy; to continue the ‘pure’ ideals. Growing up in a house like that, you learn to keep your own counsel. You listen more than you speak, observe more than you participate. It's just safer that way.
The family library, tucked away in the west wing of Grey Manor, became my sanctuary. A place where the whispers of forgotten magic seemed to understand me better than my own kin. It was there, hidden behind shelves of pristine family histories, that I found texts that spoke of magic beyond bloodlines and prejudice.
That's probably more than you wanted to know, isn’t it? I’m not one for overly personal introductions. But, well, there you have it. Polaris Grey, Slytherin. A bookworm who prefers the company of ancient spells to the company of most people. Try not to hold it against me, alright? And if you happen to stumble across any interesting old books, you know who to find.
