Alice von Elder

Backstory

Alice von Elder was a Slytherin girl who grew up in Sweden. Her parents and big sister had all studied at Hogwarts. Even though English was her second language, she still wanted to follow in their footsteps. Her mother and her big sister had both been sorted into Gryffindor. Alice, however, took more to her father and was sorted into Slytherin, something which made him quite proud. 

Alice's upbringing was unusual, even by magical standards. She grew up in a pureblood family, but had to go to school with muggles before she entered Hogwarts. This caused her a lot of dismay because she suffered a lot of bullying due to her inability to fit in with her peers. When she went to Hogwarts she became a bit more sociable, but she never stopped being reclusive due to her childhood experiences. 

Going to Hogwarts as a non-English speaker was initially quite hard. However, Alice had a deep affinity for the English language and learned pretty quickly out of personal interest. It also didn't hurt that she had a big sister who helped her out a lot with not just the language, but social etiquette and subjects of the school.
