Backstory

Madeline Vex was born under a shimmering tapestry of stars, the night sky her first companion. As a child, she would often escape to the garden behind the crumbling family cottage, lying on her back in soft grass while tracing constellations with her fingers. Her parents were gentle souls both nurturing Madeline's fascination with celestial wonders. They taught her that every star held stories untold and that their positions whispered secrets about fate and fortune; however, their serenity was shattered one fateful evening when an illness claimed them both in quick succession. At just 10 years old, Madeline found herself alone amidst memories of laughter and love.

With nothing but sorrow as company, she turned to the stars for solace. In those lonely nights spent studying astrological charts by candlelight, Madeline honed not only her skills as an astrologer but also discovered latent magical abilities hidden within herself—a gift she had unknowingly inherited from her mother’s lineage of witches. Flipping through dusty tomes filled with spells and rituals long forgotten by time, she began to weave magic into the fabric of her existence. Guided by twinkling stars above and ancient wisdom at hand, she transformed grief into empowerment. She wandered into the depths of Eldergrove Forest where strange creatures bathed underneath luminous moons. They took her in: mischievous faeries with wings woven from gossamer and wise old spirits cloaked in shadows became her family. The forest whispered its secrets to her as she grew, teaching Madeline the ancient language of nature and the lore hidden among the galaxies above. 

Years had passed and Madeline was 12 when she recieved her acceptance letter from Hogwarts: The School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. She was nervous to be alone again for the first time since her parents passing, but excited to see the observatory in person for the first time. On the fateful autumn night, a few days before the beginning of school, she wandered the forest and followed the stars hoping to find contenment in her upcoming journey. Madeline stumbled upon Neonia, an enigmatic woman cloaked in midnight hues adorned with talismans crafted from enchanted woodlands. Madeline's bright green eyes glistened at the same acceptance letter Neonia held in her hand, welcoming her to a new chapter in her life. Neonia gave Madeline her last name, Vex, and promised to stick by her thorugh out their years of learning new kinds of magic. Her heart throbbed, a web spun between grief and joy, while always feeling tethered back to that child who wandered alone after the loss of her parents. Yet Madeline dared herself again, for love intertwined like vines across weeds, to embrace her newfound feelings beneath a shared constellation brightened just for them as they began on their journey.
