Sydney Mary Buchanan, was born at the end of the second wizarding war, in the clan home of Castle Buchanan in Scotland to a Pureblood English witch, Mary Anne Buchanan nee Rosette, and a Pureblood Scottish wizard, Alastair Harris Buchanan.
Her father, Alastair Buchanan, had fought as a Death Eater during the first wizarding war, but had since refused to return to his position during the second, preferring to stay away and keep his wife safe. The marriage of her parents had been arranged, as both came from upstanding pureblood families, with purist ideals, which for Sydney were upheld to an extent, asking her to only engage in relationships with other pureblood, which she agreed to calmly.
At the age of eleven, she went to Hogwarts, where she was sorted into Slytherin.
