Backstory
Ancestry & Family Background:
Professor Fayge is a Muggle-born witch (and prefers the term wizard just as well, if not more). Her ancestry holds some mystery, yet it is known that her blood carries a blend of European heritage: primarily British, Irish, Greek and French. Rather than focusing on the past, specifically that which pertains to her family history, she prefers to focus on the present because that is solely where opportunities for change and progress lie.
Educational & Professional Background:
Inarid Fayge first studied as a Horned Serpent at Ilvermorny, but experienced personal issues at home that led to her transfer to Hogwarts at age 14. Transferring between wizarding institutions is highly irregular, presenting a significant challenge for Inarid. Nevertheless, it proved necessary at the time, and she now reflects on these early experiences with gratitude for the role they played in shaping her into who she is today.
Shortly after graduating Hogwarts, she started a lengthy internship with Nancile Botwin in her herbology shop. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for cultivating magical plants for use in potions and teas, with a particular focus on mental health. Additionally, this is where Inarid developed her tasseography studies, often reading tea leaves in the shop on slow days.
In her mid-twenties, Inarid began working on some short-term projects with the MoM’s Department of Mysteries, where she met Professor Laurel. -INFORMATION REDACTED- Afterwards, she spent a brief stint in the Space Chamber for a 7 month assignment before transferring to the Time Room for a full-time position. After encountering some ethical concerns with a project there, Inarid chose to part ways with the MoM and continue her own research in herbology and tasseography.
Several months later, on a particularly rainy Thursday afternoon, she had a strange vision of chocolate wands. This led her to stroll down the streets of Hogsmeade, and through the entrancing green door of Honeydukes. Right by the chocolate foci was none other than Professor Laurel, who would soon inform Inarid of the open application for a Divination Professor at Hogwarts…
