Backstory

When I received my Hogwarts Letter that faithful day, I didn’t know what it would mean. At first I thought it was just a joke, ya know? My sister sometimes played pranks on me, or blamed me when some weird stuff happened around the house. How was I supposed to know regular pencils couldn’t write in all the colors of the rainbow? Anyway, my parents were going to go shopping in London anyway and they figured they would humor me. Boy, the look on their face when we stopped by the Barren Bulldog pub and the sign said “The Leaky Cauldron” instead! The innkeeper was an odd but friendly man, and there were some people to help show us around. The coolest part of Diagon Alley was picking up Herbology gear. I just love plants! I might finish with “One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi” before school even starts.

As I stood at the entrance of the grand Hogwarts castle, a wave of excitement and nervous anticipation washed over me. The towering stone walls exuded an air of ancient wisdom, whispering secrets of centuries past. The grounds were adorned with lush green gardens, vibrant flowers, and mystical creatures flitting their wings. The sweet scent of magic was in the air.

"Are you ready for this, Aurora?" a voice called out from behind me. I turned around to find my best friend, Lily, donning her Gryffindor robes and a mischievous smile.

"I suppose so," I replied, a nervous flutter causing my heart to skip a beat. "But what if the Sorting Hat can't decide where to place me? What if I'm a hatstall?"

Lily playfully nudged me with her elbow. "Don't fret, Aurora. You're destined for Hufflepuff. Loyalty, patience, and kindness flow through your veins. You're practically the epitome of all things Hufflepuff."

I let out a soft laugh, grateful for her unwavering support. Lily and I had been inseparable since we first laid eyes on each other on the Hogwarts Express. Our bond only grew stronger as we traversed the halls of Hogwarts together, mischievous pranks and late-night study sessions becoming the norm.

As we stepped through the castle doors, the magic of the Great Hall enveloped us. The sea of students had formed into their respective houses, anticipation radiating from every corner. The Sorting Hat's voice boomed through the hall, calling out names one by one.

"Aurora Evergreen!" the Sorting Hat declared. My heart raced as I approached the stool, placing the hat gently on my head.

"Aurora...ah, a girl with a pure heart, a gentle soul, and unwavering determination. Hufflepuff, where you truly belong!"

Cheers erupted from the yellow-clad students as I made my way towards my new house table. I caught Lily's eye and grinned. This was the start of our greatest adventure yet.

Now I'm in Hufflepuff, and I'm grateful for it
