Background
Gwenyth (Gwen to friends) is a Ravenclaw student, born to American witch Seraphina Abbott (Potioneer and Charms Inventor) and English born Wizard, Bennett Porter (Retired Quidditch Player, now Obliviator) in Dorset, England where her father played quidditch for Puddlemere United. Soon after she was born (when Quidditch season ended) , her father retired and the Porter family made their way across the pond, to the United States, where her mother grew up, deeming it a fair place to raise their children as well.

The United States is where Gwenyth spent most of her time, learning the ins and outs of being apart of a magical family in a muggle town. Her two older brothers, Colin and Liam taught her everything she needed to know about how not to behave. Worried their two boys' mischeaveous demeanor would rub off on their daughter, the Porter parents put strict rules on using magic in the family home.

By the time it came to start wizarding school for Gwenyth, her two brothers were already in year 4 and 6 at Ilvermorny. Gwenyth's acceptance letter to the same school came days before her father was offered a promotion with a catch - to move back to England and work at the London office.

After a lot of discussions and string-pulling, Gwenyth was able to turn her Ilvermorny acceptance, into a Hogwarts one, and the Porter's moved to London. Her two brothers, far along in their own courses at Ilvermorny chose to continue to study there, leaving them with a much farther commute for summer and winter breaks. Gwenyth still writes to them often, it just takes a bit longer considering they can't send an owl over the Atlantic Ocean.

Hogwarts Experience

While Gwenyth's immediate concerns were how different she sounded from the other students, and whether or not she would understand them. It was quickly replaced with 'What the heck is a Ravenclaw?' when the hat they put on her head shouted it out across the great hall. Both of those concerns dwindled away pretty quickly, when she realized her house fit her personality more than any Ilvermorny house was ever described to her by Colin and Liam. And as for her worry about not being able to understand other students and make friends... it was much easier once they recognized her last name. It was weird for her, to see pictures and the name of her father in the trophy cases - her brothers never got this kind of reaction in the states. The only downsides were the looks she got when she said she didn't want to try out for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. (She very soon after got a howler from her father telling her she would absolutley be trying out for the team and there was no backing out of it) . . . and yes she made the team, easily becoming Ravenclaw's newest keeper.

On the academic side, Gwenyth very quickly found that she did not have the same love for herbology as her mother, rather she hated it . . . But she did seem to inherit a knack for potions and charms from her. The only class she loved more than that . . . to her fathers eager approval, was flying.

Gwenyth, while currently still the only student to send letters by actual mail, has managed to fit in very comfortably at Hogwarts, and is very happy to take every class she possibly can - in proper Ravenclaw fashion.
