ever since amber was young, she knew there was something different about her. she could see patterns and symbols and lights where others couldn't, feel the change in the air when she entered a place she later discovered to be magical, sense when something good or bad was about to happen, whether to her or someone else, even if she often didn't realise what she was sensing in time. she never knew her parents. the only clue she had was her name, bragisdottir, and that wasn't much to go on. constantly moving from foster family to foster family, she never knew a stable home until she received her letter -- and she knew hogwarts was where she was supposed to be, who she was supposed to be.
