Darci Prewett

Backstory

I am a half-blood, the daughter of Maud Prewett and muggle Adrian Bishop. My background is a long story. I am just now attending Hogwarts at the age of 18 because I was kept in the dark about my magical heritage and abilities until I was old enough to find out about it myself. I am discovering more and more about my mother Maud, her story, and about my magical abilities each day.

My mother was an admirable student during her days at Hogwarts, and she also was pretty involved during the Second Wizarding War. However, she was pretty shaken up after the Battle of Hogwarts and the loss of her cousin Fred, along with others she knew. She went back to her job making potions in London and began to involve herself more with the muggle world in an effort to forget what had happened. It was then that she met my father Adrian. In July of 1998 they met in a pub in London and started going out. After a whirlwind romance they were married on June 2, 1999, less than a year after they had met. My mother also never mentioned the fact that she was a witch to my father, and as time went on, it became harder to do so, especially when she found out he was very opposed to magic in general. They were married for almost three years before I came along. Somehow that whole time my mother kept her magical abilities secret from my father, as well as the truth about her job. Only weeks after I was born on April 20, 2002, my father found out about the magical nature of my mother. He left her immediately and took full custody of me, using the fact that she was a witch to keep me away from her. For 18 years I grew up without knowing who my mother was, and in a way, who I was. One day though, I discovered a Hogwarts necklace with my mother's initials on it and a picture of her and my father that he had hidden away. I confronted him about these things but he downright refused to talk to me about them. I began to do research on my own, and eventually was able to discover the identity of the woman in the photo- Maud Prewett, my mother; however I was shocked and devastated to find out that she had died in 2005 (I am convinced it was from a broken heart). I went to my father again with the information I had discovered. He got angry and told me that he kept me away from my mother because she was a witch and a freak and many other things. He told me to forget about her since she was dead anyway, but how could I? I had just found about her, and even if she was dead, she was my mother, and I knew next to nothing about her. I had to find out more. So I ran away. How I got to Hogwarts with no knowledge on how to is another long story, but I'll save that one for later. Eventually I did end up at Hogwarts though, and so here I am as a first year, learning about both magic and my heritage.
