Backstory

Ever since I was a small child, my father would always tell me that I was too smart for my own good, and that my curiosity would possibly one day get me into trouble. Boy, was he right.

One day, we had gone on our annual summer vacation to the UK. My father - a tall man of 6 feet 3 inches with chestnut brown hair and the most gentle eyes you'd ever see - was from there. Every trip to the UK, my father would let me know a little bit more about how it was like to grow up in his hometown. That day, he had decided to give me a tour of his favorite part of London. We were strolling down the streets together and came across a beautiful fountain. We sat together by the edge and he told me some of its story. That was right before something in my peripheral vision caught my eye. A sparkle, maybe a light. It was so faint that no one else seemed to notice.

"Zuri, stay here by this fountain. Don't you move from here, alright? I've got to run a quick errand, but I'll be right back. Do you understand?" my father had asked me.

"Um, yes, father," I had said absentmindedly, giving him a small glance in his direction before returning my focus back to where I previously saw the flash of light. I remember that he had stood up, checking his lucky pocket watch before taking one last look at me and quickly running off to do his task.

I sat still for a solid two minutes, staring at the alleyway where the light had first appeared. Suddenly, there it was again. Instinctively, my body shot up, and before I knew it, I was running. The alleyway quickly grew near as I ran towards it, and once I was in it, I stopped. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I slowly inched my way to the other side. I held my breath just as I peered around the corner.

Just within my line of sight stood two figures in what seemed like black hooded capes. It looked like they were holding... sticks? I could feel the tension of the atmosphere from where I stood.

"Lord Voldemort does not forgive pesky traitors!" the one I had a better view of yelled out, before raising up the stick they had in their hand and pointing it towards the other figure, "Avada Kedavra!"

(Still in progress)

Zuri Emersyn Bridges --> A half-blood who was oblivious to the magic world until she witnessed a duel on her annual vacation to London with her dad. She was used to going to muggle public schools, but her father taught her some basic training and understanding of magic. On her birthday, her father gave her her Hogwarts letter that had arrived just a few days earlier. Her greatest strength is her determination because if she sets her mind on something, she'll do everything in her power to get it done. Her greatest weakness, however, is her curiosity, which often gets her into trouble. She hasn't really decided what she wants to be after graduating, but she knows that she wants it to be a job where she'll get to interact with magical creatures. She's always found them fascinating. When it was her time to attend Hogwarts, she was very excited. She could barely keep herself still in her seat as they put the Sorting Hat upon her head. The Sorting Hat couldn't decide where to put her. It was originally going to sort her into Ravenclaw because it could tell she had the smarts, but her energy and confidence was just so overwhelming that she ended up being sorted into Gryffindor. She does well in all her studies, but her favorite class is Defense Against the Dark Arts. She also likes any class where she could interact with magical creatures. However, she doesn't really like Astrology as much because of the lack of magic use. Her father had gotten her a Northern Saw-whet owl as a pet with beautiful light brown feathers. She hadn't hesitated to name her Caramel. She plans on doing her best to use her magic strictly for good, nothing like the death eaters she had seen the year before. She loves helping others and makes friends very easily. She feels like the most fascinating thing about magic is how much good it could do when used correctly.

Caramel --> Northern Saw-whet owl who's very lovable, loves getting pet, is small but can handle the job of deliveries :3

Her father (Arthur Bridges) --> A Hufflepuff student who went to school with Harry, was there when He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was in power. To avoid any trouble after the war, he moved to the US and met the mother in Chicago. After his wife, Danielle's death, he vowed to not tell Zuri about magic. However, he was forced to tell her after saving her from a death eater. He decided they should stay in the UK when her Hogwarts letter had arrived.

Her mother (Danielle Bridges) --> A muggle who knew all about magic because Arthur shared everything with her.
Died of an unknown illness when Zuri was 3, despite Arthur's attempt at saving her with magic
