Blood versus nurture. Which causes a wizard's greatest personality flaw? There's a research project, eh? Now, would you find me someone with a flaw?

Backstory

If I really need to fill out a form...

I am Lyn, I was considering dedicating the entirety of my time to studying arithmancy. However, it seems my time is better used with a charm to automatically fill out an introduction, I suppose. So, here I am.

I was sorted into house Ravenclaw, much to my chagrin. Something about intellect, potential, and undevoted study? Oh well. While I was expecting something a bit more easygoing than being surrounded by academic sorts, I guess it could always be worse. There's a plethora of students in House Ravenclaw that seem pliable to the idea of sharing notes. Oh, did that get picked up?

Disregard that. Many people say I sleep more than I breathe, but I don't sleep all the time like everyone thinks I do. I actually study more than anything, if you ask me. I don't particularly enjoy speaking with others on topics of study, so I like nighttime, when no one else is around. It suits me the best. And then, since I'm up all night, I end up sleeping during the day. Other, prospecting students like to emphasize our unique opportunity to study at Hogwarts. I like to emphasize that they're wasting a perfectly good day stressing about how much they need to cram into their skulls by the end of each week. Wouldn't life be easier if we just got to study the things that interested us?

But, I suppose each person must follow their own way. This is how I prefer to live.

Am I done now? All this chattering has me drowsy...

A Brief Bio:

Detesting constraints and adoring freedom, Lyn does his best to circumvent friction and problems, often lazing about listlessly in non-essential activities such as fishing, sleeping, meandering, or idle conversations. Although many would consider him largely intelligent, his laziness results in him refusing to use his knowledge for practical purposes unless it benefits his whim or current obsession. Despite this, he does seem to have a genuine care for others and considers himself to be most useful to others when there are no others awake to act.

Despite being a full-blooded wizard with an impressive, familial track record on his shoulders, Lyn has little care for his own heritage. His laziness makes him notably different from other students who believe they must stand to make a point or exert themselves. He believes that pride means nothing to him, as it doesn't provide any essentials to living. He generally has little opinion on gossip relating to him, although he does admit that he can't always disregard the credence of words spent at his expense. In fact, he often expresses a desire to cast away curriculum and formality to pursue an studious life entirely of his own making.

He has a genuine interest in arithmancy, history, and potions, and when immersed in his research, can entirely forgo sleep or eating. That, accompanied by his intellect, has the potential to make him one of the more promising students in his class. However, he often traipses about from isubject to subject and is only able to dedicate himself to whatever fancies him in the moment. Additionally, his extreme disinterest in anything off-topic will cause him to become dismissive, disillusioned, or even drowsy.

Hooks:

- Lyn is a decent sort if you are looking for a student to build a bit of friction with. Dismissive, dreary, and dull, Lyn is the perfect foil to your whimsical, studious nature.

- It's a bit hard to captivate Lyn's interest, but once he gets going on his new whim-driven interest, it's like peeling him off with a spatula. If you wish for equal-parts comedic and driven interaction, perhaps engage on a current topic of his interest

- He may be a bit hard to talk to (even if I myself adore conversing), but persistence and bullheadedness can yield great fruit if you wish to build a story together

- Despite his outward dismissive nature, Lyn is a kind-hearted person who often doles out his courtesies on an axis not easily detected at first-glance. That being said, it's easy for him to be misunderstood, and equally easy for him to misunderstand  the people around him. Let's write some tension off the backs of misunderstandings and allow them to bud into nuanced character development, for you and him
