Maya Thomas

Backstory

My name is Maya Thomas, Dean Thomas is my dad. I was so excited because my dad had told me so much about Hogwarts and all the magic and friendships he had. My mother for all I know is a muggle, dad doesn't talk about her much, she left us when I was a baby. According to Seamus, he didn't tell my mother for a while because he was scared that she would leave him like his father did to him and his mother. When he did she just about went mad, didn't believe him and left the next morning. He went and stayed with Seamus for a while eventually getting his own place and started working at the ministry under the Head of Magical Law Enforcement as a Hit Wizard. Because dad worked most of the day I just hung out with the Finnigan, Seamus and dad were really close at Hogwarts so it made sense. When I got my letter dad and I were sitting in the kitchen while he attempted to make food, the letter came by owl and I screamed with happiness. We even went to Diagon Alley the next day and got me everything I needed, dad even got me an owl. On the train to Hogwarts I sat with some of my friends and thought about what it would be like to go to Hogwarts, I even made it halfway through Hogwarts a History. I decided right then and there that I wanted to be in Ravenclaw, everybody there was smart and clever, even though my dad was a Gryffindor. When I got there I ended up getting sorted into Gryffindor, I was a bit of a hatstall, I'm not sure why though I'm not super interesting or anything. In the end I came out as Gryffindor and I guess it's worked out. My favorite class right now has got to be Astronomy, I love learning about the stars and what their patterns mean, it's quite beautiful, my least favorite class has got to be History of Magic, I don't mind reading about it, it's just Professor Bins can be a bit much, his voice is so slow. I do well though, which I guess is all that matters. I'm halfblood, not much to it I suppose, I get the best of both worlds *cue Hannah Montana intro music*. Most of my friends are the same or muggle born. I wasn't born yet when Voldemort was at large, I've heard all the stories though, all the terrible disappearances, Dementors everywhere. My greatest strength is probably my loyalty and cleverness, I've been told that ever since I was a child I've loved reading and absorbing new information. My favorite quidditch team has been and will always be the Holyhead Harpies (much to Seamus's dismay) the first all-female quidditch team, Ginny Weasley was my favorite player, dad even taught me how to ride a broom when I was 5. My greatest weakness, would be that I trust people too much, I've been told I'm too forgiving which makes me easy to take advantage of. After I finish school I want to travel the world or become an Auror, I know that's the job everybody wants and everything, but I want it more. The most fascinating aspect of magic is in my opinion the dark arts, which sounds terrible, but if you think about it it's quite interesting to learn about Lord Voldemort and his past and all the means of which he used to become what everyone feared. I want to use magic to help people and show them magic's infinite possibilities. If I'm being completely honest, I so selfishly want people to remember me for my kindness and adventures, when I die I want people to know my name and still talk about me. I have one pet, she's an owl and her name is Starr, because Starr is the name of a character from my favorite muggle book that dad made me read about the brutality of muggles that are like us. Starr is a shy owl, she won't really let anyone use her or touch her besides me. She's very affectionate to those she does take a liking to. My family is pretty normal, nothing out of the ordinary, dad is a little over protective though. i think he's just worried that I'll leave too.
