Backstory

Devin's father John Woodward, a pureblood Slytherin, was raised to believe that muggle-borns and half-bloods were beneath him. He hated them and hated purebloods that associated with them, with every fiber of his being. He detested and resented the fact that he had to learn magic alongside them, but that mindset would not last for long.

The tale is as old as time. When John was fourteen-years-old, he met a pureblood Hufflepuff who was as kind and loving as she was beautiful. John fell in love with her and in time, she opened his eyes to a different way of thinking. Elizabeth believed that muggle-borns, half-bloods, and purebloods were equal to one another. She believed everyone deserved the same kind of love and respect. Much to his family's dismay, John and Elizabeth married after leaving Hogwarts.

The couple had three children - Damian, Devin, and Daniel. Like her mother before her, Devin was a kind soul. She, too, was sorted into Hufflepuff. During her first year, Devin met a fellow first-year named Alexis Ainsworth. The two became the best of friends, inseparable, even making plans to train dragons together after Hogwarts. But this would never happen.

During the summer before their fifth year, Lexi came home to find her parents, who were half-bloods, murdered in their home. The sight of their bodies drove Alexis mad. She was taken to St. Mungo's where she resides there still to this day. Devin never saw her best friend again.

What Devin doesn't know is that it was John Woodward who was responsible for their deaths. After the return of Lord Voldemort, Devin's father began acting strangely. She and her brothers had no way of knowing that their father had been and still was a death eater.

[Eventually, during the war, John Woodward kills his wife, and then his eldest son Damian kills him in turn.]
